Welcome to the 2nd installment of the “Get on the First Page of Google” series! Today, we’re chatting about how to choose keywords to get yo’ booty on the first page of Google.

Here’s the thing – you can name your photos to increase your SEO or do any of the other things we’re going to talk about in this series BUT if you’re not choosing your keywords correctly, it’s not going to matter not one single iota (southern saying alert).
So, how do you choose them?
Well, my biggest piece of advice is to make sure that you’re
thinking like a client/customer.
What are you potential clients or customers searching for?
Maybe you’re like me and you want to teach people how to use the alt text of their photos to increase SEO but that’s not what they’re searching for because they don’t know that “alt text” is even something they should be using so they’re searching for “how to name photos for SEO”, so that’s what my keywords will be.
Now that you’ve determined what your client is searching for, take out the “stop” words. Listen, stop words are an annoying thing, sometimes you have to have them because the search wouldn’t make sense without them…”how to name photos for SEO” is a good example. How, to and for are all stop words but “name photos SEO” doesn’t really get the point across so I chose to leave them. You do want to TRY and take out any super common words and use the most truncated version of your keyword phrase that you possibly can.
That’s really it, really take the time to figure out what your clients are searching for in relation to what you’re writing about or selling or whatever and then truncate it to make simple keywords that will help get you on the First Page of Google.
